Used yarn

Used yarn, originally uploaded by Natália Tricô.

These socks are special.
The yarn used to do these socks was ripped out from old samples from an old lady that is always saying me to improve my skills and go on by myself.

In my Boarding School (Lar Santa Isabel) my first socks were done with ripped yarn from old clothes (coat, socks…, I was eight years old.
My country didn’t have at the time many materials and we had to manage to work out everything we had. Nothing was thrown away.
And our play games were all invented by ourselves. Old tickets become a play set of cards. Stones become a house with anything you could imagine.
Recycled at the time, in my Boarding school wasn’t a word we knew but we did it.
We join together the papers to sell.
Old clothes when they were really old become cloth to clean the dust.
The wood from vegetables box becomes furniture (bookshelves, banks…)

Vale a pena ir ouvir.

Qual é a finalidade?

Blanket to big Boy

Blanket to big Boy

Moisés is waiting to this blanket for too long and I have to do a pair of socks to him. He wants orange socks or red.
He doesn’t have any socks done by his mother. Hard to believe!
I went to a local shop to buy the yarn to my socks pal and I didn’t find anything extraordinary. I bought green wool yarn and I did a pair of socks to a little baby. The socks were O.K., but I want more. I like lace and I am looking to a pattern in the internet because I do not find here books obout socks making.
This week I did some purses with used plastic bags to a local shop. And I am exhausted…

To: My Sockapalooza pal

Hello. Can you help me? I have tried several times to get your information in Sockapalooza and I don’t have a mail back saying your sock pal's shipping information.
Today is my birthday and I had already a party at work.
Last night I did a sock to improve my skills, but it is difficult to end in weaves.

Eu levei as agulhas e o meu tricô.

Originally uploaded by Natália Tricô.
